Alta Mare was founded by Ana Baumann-Valencia, drawing on her experience advising international clients in Spain and Switzerland.
From the start, the firm has been guided by a simple principle: understanding each client’s needs, fostering long-term relationships, and providing practical, expert guidance on Spanish legal and tax matters.
Ana Baumann-Valencia
Partner at AltaMare Law – Zurich
Ana Baumann-Valencia is a cross-border private client and corporate lawyer. She advises international families, investors and businesses on Spanish real estate, estates and succession, family governance and corporate/M&A—often across multiple jurisdictions, including common-law.
A practising member of the Barcelona Bar (ICAB) and the IBA, and a Solicitor of England & Wales, she blends 20+ years’ experience in Spain and Switzerland with a pragmatic, coordination-driven approach.
After roles at Banco Santander and Auren—where she launched the private client practice for international clients—she moved to Switzerland in 2015 to serve as legal counsel to (re)insurance groups with operations across EMEA and Latin America, before founding and leading AltaMare Law’s cross-border offering.
Ana holds a Law degree from Pompeu Fabra (plus postgraduates at ESADE and in Notarial Studies) and works in Spanish, Catalan, English, French and German.
Adriana Betancourt
Paralegal & Operations Manager – Zurich
Adriana supports cross-border matters between Switzerland and Spain, overseeing legal documentation management and quality control, coordinating with notaries and registries, managing client onboarding and KYC, and handling regulatory filings with care and attention to deadlines.
Prior to joining AltaMare , she spent over a decade working alongside C-suite leadership in international organisations in Switzerland, developing deep expertise in corporate communications, stakeholder coordination, and operational strategy — including the leadership of office setups and complex administrative environments.
Adriana holds a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Marketing & Corporate Communications from ZHAW and works fluently in Spanish, English, and German.
Esther Valencia
Legal Consultant – Barcelona
Esther is a legal consultant specialised in the preparation, execution and registration of deeds and notarial acts throughout Spain, including tax filings and administrative-fiscal formalities.
She manages end-to-end notarial workflows and post-completion formalities with precision, drawing on more than 15 years of experience in notarial practice, which gives her a rigorous command of Spanish notarial and registry procedures.
Esther holds a degree in Marketing and has completed specialist courses in inheritance, contract and corporate law at ICAB and the Catalan Notarial Association.
She works in Catalan, Spanish and English.
Aleix Dalmau

Aleix Dalmau holds a Law degree from the University of Barcelona and is a registered member of the Barcelona Bar Association.
